If you’re exploring senior living options for yourself or a loved one, you’ve probably come across the terms “assisted living” and “independent living.” Some who contact NewAldaya Lifescapes to better understand all we have to offer want specifics on each type of living, so let’s take a closer look at what each has to offer older adults.

Independent Living

Many of our residents love the comforts of home and the independence to come and go as they please, sometimes choosing to partake in the cultural opportunities in Cedar Falls, or sometimes cozying up with a good book on a rainy day. Independent living at NewAldaya Lifescapes gives seniors a choice of four apartment buildings, each with its own unique living arrangements, and access to our Main Street Lifestyle Center. At the same time, it frees them of the burdens that come with maintaining a house or condominium of their own.

Assisted Living

Assisted Living at NewAldaya Lifescapes gives residents a choice of one-bedroom, alcove, and studio living arrangements. Some residents live here full-time, while others use our facility as a transition between surgery or hospitalization and their full-time home.

As with our independent living options, you may choose to partake in a wide range of social activities and outings, or to keep to yourself. However, there’s a difference in assisted living: if you need help, whether it’s with housekeeping, cooking, medications, or other day-to-day activities, our staff are always close by, ready with a helping hand and a kind word.

Choosing Between Independent and Assisted Living

Many older individuals instinctively know whether they’re better off in an independent living situation, or if they need the bit of extra help that comes with assisted living. Both choices have two important things in common: first, they’re designed for individuals who do not require around the clock nursing care. Second, our goal is to ensure that you have a place that feels like home, and that gives you as much freedom as you want while still having ties to the NewAldaya community.

If you’re at a point where you’re not sure which choice would provide you the best options, we invite you to call — or, better still, to visit. NewAldaya Lifescapes is an experience like no other, delivered by people who share in our mission of Christian caring. We see the difference this makes every day, but we also know that you’ll be looking for the right fit for this stage in your life. We can help ease that decision.

Independent living and assisted living are just two points on a continuum of care offered by NewAldaya Lifescapes. Our facilities, which balance state-of-the-art nursing care with all the comforts of home, also provide access to in-home health care services, extended care and respite care, memory care, and outpatient therapy. To find out more about these services and the caring people who provide them, we invite you to our beautiful campus at 7511 University Avenue, close to downtown Cedar Falls, Iowa.
